the ULTRAMATIC One-tank Clean/Rinse/Dry System

Late in 1983, Zenith Ultrasonics received a U.S. patent, and several foreign patents, for a one-tank ultrasonic cleaning system that had the capability to clean, rinse, and dry parts, all in a single ultrasonically activated cleaning tank (pat #4,409,999). Called the Ultramatic, the design had many advantages then, and still does today.

Since parts do not transfer from tank-to-tank, the Ultramatic is commonly used for the cleaning of parts which are too large or cumbersome to be transferred through a multi-tank cleaning operation, of those customers who wish to purchase an automated cleaning system without the expense of robotic parts handling systems.ULTRAMATIC 2400 Automated Clean/Rinse/Dry System

The small footprint and automated operation is perfect for today’s cellular manufacturing programs. And, the unique ability to add a host of custom Processing Racks allows complete customization to your particular application. Racks such as centrifugal or slow tumbling rotation, custom part rotation devices, and others can be added to an Ultramatic, further enhancing the cleaning process. The Ultramatic is also useful in applications requiring the use of flammable cleaning agents, since tanks remain completely covered during all cycles.

Parts are first loaded onto the Processing Rack. Once loaded, the operator chooses 1 of 4 Recipes of Operation, preprogrammed time values which are loaded into the program to process parts based on your individual requirements. One recipe may be for large parts, another for intricate and sensitive components, and so on.

Once the Recipe has been selected, the operator depresses the START button to begin cleaning operations. The processing ank is filled with cleaning fluid which has been stored in a heated holding tank. Parts are processed ultrasonically, removing all contaminants from every crevice and detailed part area. Ultrasonic frequencies are selected for maximum performance.

Once the cleaning cycle is completed, parts are oscillated for recipe-determined period of time with the optional Intermittent Oscillation System. Since ultrasonics only loosens contaminants from parts rather than blasting them free, some contamination may accumulate and become trapped in certain part designs. By oscillating the parts, cleaning fluid flushes these contaminants free from the parts and into the cleaning fluid. The combination of ultrasonic cleaning action and oscillation produces a highly-effective cleaning environment which is far superior to either method alone.

Parts are thereafter rinsed with a combination of fresh water spray and ultrasonic submergence. Ultrasonic immersion rinsing guarantees that all part areas are thoroughly rinsed, while the fresh water spray eliminate the possibility of spotting when deionized water is used.

After final spray rinse has completed, heated air is introduced into the tank to dry the parts. The system may be programmed to oscillate the parts during this cycle to free large droplets from part surfaces. HEPA filtration is available if required. All cycles have been completed fully automatically. A Signal Tower alerts operators that the cycle is complete, as well as providing crucial process details.. Touchscreen Operator Interface displays all process information continuously so that operators can tell which cycle is underway at a single glance.

The system is controlled with a PLC control system which can be customized to suit your every cleaning requirement. Optional full touchscreen interfaces make system control a snap. Recipes can be re-programmed in less than 2 minutes, and full manual control of all devices along with online help is included.

Optional equipment can be added to the Ultramatic to better suit your requirements, such as on-board deionization, particulate filtration, pump fill/drain systems, automatic detergent injection and water make-up systems, and many others. Ultrasonic frequency and power options will be perfectly matched to the application for which the system is designed.

The Ultramatic is available in the following standard sizes:

ULTRAMATIC 2000: Processing tank Size 20" x 12" x 14" tall
ULTRAMATIC 2400: Processing Tank Size: 24" x 18" x 15" tall
ULTRAMATIC 3600: Processing Tank Size 36" x 24" x 18" tall
ULTRAMATIC 4800: Processing Tank Size 48" x 36" x 24" tall.

All other sizes can be custom manufactured.
